O2: BLENDED COURSES GUIDELINES

The Guidelines are a report describing how to plan, manage and assess blended courses, including both online and face-to-face modules (blended). This toolkit leverages on the general experience of all the project partners as well as the specific evidence from the BUDS project and is structured in the following sections:

PLAN

  • Identifying the learning objectives and the target group(s)
  • Deciding on educational tools to ensure the achievement of the learning objectives
  • Identifying the LMS/LCMS and its tools
  • Determining the elements of learning analytics to be collectedEnsuring the sustainability of the blended course.

DESIGN

  • Creating the right balance between synchronous and asynchronous learning
  • Creating rubrics that can be used for evaluations
  • Providing a variety of teaching methods in the blended course
  • Using pull and push in the blended course
  • Providing the right amount of repetition to ensure the students’ success

 

MANAGE

  • Creating a good learning experience
  • Teacher as coach and mentor (and other roles)
  • Creating social interaction among students
  • Supporting/Motivating students in their learning process
  • Students in charge of their own (blended) learning
